Do elephant corridors near developed areas actually work?

According to this article, they are working, an “Indian solution to an Indian problem.” To date 88 corridors have been established by the Wildlife Trust of India with help from the World Land Trust. Basically, the villagers in potential corridors were offered the opportunity to move to new villages, removed from the stomping grounds of the elephants but still able to continue their livelihoods. In return the elephants have been given unpopulated paths between forests, so they are able to “visit” without any human interference.
