Do electric vehicles charge fast enough to have a demand for charging stations?

Yes, what you’re proposing is actually something that those in the electric car industry are greatly considering in order to make these vehicles more universally acceptable. For instance, on the understanding that a visit to a gas station takes several minutes, a battery charger that could charge an electric car battery to an 80% charge in 10 minutes is being considered. Although overnight charges and other ideas–such as a contraption that would allow the car to pick up a charge from the highway itself–are other ideas. But I think the changing station could serve several purposes, like today’s gas station, and could be a less invasive method of collecting highway use taxes than the GPS solution that is being proposed in some states today.
