You can say that earthquakes and volcanoes come hand in hand since volcanoes follow a regular pattern of increasing seismic activity whenever they are about to erupt, and this is usually in the form of small earthquakes. In a sense you can say that an earthquake almost always precedes a volcanic eruption, but it doesn’t work the other way around.
