Do dung beetles only eat poop?

No, dung beetles do not only eat poop. A dung beetle species found in the Mediterranean, Thorectes Lusitanicus, also eats oak acorns. Studies have shown that beetles who eat acorns have improved fat body mass, hemolymph composition, and ovary development resulting in improved resistance to low-temperature conditions and ovarian development as compared to beetles who do not eat acorns.

Dung beetles do not only eat poop. Some of them eat worms that are found in the poop.

no, the reason they get their name is because they are born in ‘poop’, and when adults they eat like normal beetles
