Do dairy farmers have to reduce their carbon footprint?

Currently there is no mandate that requires dairy farmers to reduce their footprint. However, the discussion of a Cap and Trade and carbon market has encouraged dairy farmers to find ways to help mitigate their own footprint. One such example internationally is “The Global Dairy Agenda for Action”, a pledge to reduce the carbon footprint. Domestically, the Innovation Center for U.S. Dairy has made efforts to reduce their carbon footprint.

I think it would be a good idea, a climate bill is going to happen eventually and if they are already watching their carbon footprint by the time it comes they will be in much better shape.
