Do crayfish come from the south?

More than half of the 500 known crayfish species come from North America. Kentucky (especially its Mammoth Cave) and Louisiana (its Mississippi Basin) produce a great number of these North American species. Overall, over 330 species of crayfish come from the Southeastern U.S.

With these facts in mind, it is prudent to say that a great deal of crayfish do indeed come from the South.
