Coral reefs are underwater structures that have colonies of organisms (fish and otherwise). A popular reference would be Finding Nemo–Nemo and his father originally lived on a coral reef. They are found primarily in tropical and sub-tropical waters. Most corals cannot be in waters below 18 degrees Celsius.
The map above (found at the NOAA’s website) shows where several of the coral reefs are located. Many of them are above and below the equator but generally, they need to be in warmer waters.
