On a per capita basis, they don’t. In terms of flights per 1,000 people, the United States comes in at 41st internationally with 5. China, on the other hand, ranks at 142nd with only .3 flights per 1,000 people. This is probably due to the sheer volume of people China has combined with a lack of infrastructure in much of the country to support a fleet of airliners on the scale that we have in the United States.
