Do cars put in junk yards have to be drained of all their fluids first?

Motor vehicles contain gas, oil, antifreeze, refrigerants, lead, mercury and other contaminants that are harmful to human health and the environment, if they are allowed to get into our drinking water, air and soil. When junk cars are properly recycled, the contaminants are removed and disposed of properly, before they can pollute the environment.
