I’m not sure about casings, but hunters and shooters need to be very careful about bullets. Bullets are usually made out of either lead or titanium -both of which are hazardous. Lead is toxic to both humans and animals and if the bullet is left in the wild it may eventually cause an animal to have increased blood lead levels (which in some cases is deadly). So be mindful when you are shooting.
Regardless of if casings eventually break down, shooters should still pick them up and dispose of them properly.
