It appears that the organization itself (not the youth of its membership) have recently been criticized for this type of activity. Executives of the Boy Scouts of America in California have repeatedly conducted commercial logging on scout lands in environmentally sensitive areas, sometimes drawing sharp criticism from regulators and environmentalists.
In California, the scouts have almost always followed forestry rules in harvesting timber on more than 6,200 acres of land they own, according to public records. They have done no clear-cutting and mainly conduct relatively small “selection” harvests, in which loggers pick each tree to be cut.
