Growth hormones used in the dairy industry to increase milk production, namely Recombinant Bovine Growth Hormone, mimic estrogen, and can be harmful to humans who consume milk. Bovine growth hormones also are found in urine from livestock that contaminates water sources. A study on male humans exposed to these estrogen-like hormones showed results of lowered sperm count. Women exposed to environmental estrogens are prone to a high risk of breast cancer.
