Do birds fly south at the same time every year?

Populations of bird species do not fly south at the same time as do other species, but members within the same species do appear to migrate at the same time every year. This is because migration is primarily triggered by length of day, and this of course remains constant year to year, irrespective of changes in temperature or food resources.
