Well, that is debatable. There is miscommunication between individual pedestrians and individuals of the biking community. Ideally, there should be no conflict. But there are individuals on both sides that just do not respect each other. Especially when some bicyclists weave from bike lane to the side walk with no regard for pedestrians.
Bicyclists are often one of the most hated people on the road. They generally have the idea that they can act as a car or a pedestrian depending on which way is most convenient for them. I would say that pedestrians have less of a problem with biker than car drivers.
