There is a strong correlation that suggests that benzidine-based dyes cause bladder cancer. Measures are in places to reduce the exposure of benzidine dyes which has resulted in a reduction in the number of incidences. Some studies suggest that benzidene only increases cancer rates when co-exposed with other chemicals, but it is still listed as a human carcinogen.
