In my opinion, the benefits do outweigh the risks. Nuclear power is by far the most powerful form of energy that mankind has the ability to harness and it is cheap. However, past accidents such as those at Three-Mile Island and Chernobyl have many worried about its use, understandably. There is also the issue of the extensively long time it takes for its waste to break down. These issues are extremely important to consider, however they can be accounted for by streamlining the technology and safety of nuclear power plants and finding better ways to dispose of nuclear waste. They should not permanently close the argument for the wide-scale use of nuclear power.
