While rare, baboon attacks on humans do occur. In parts of the world where development is encroaching on natural baboon habitat, the interactions between the primates and humans are becoming an issue. In South Africa, for example, two attacks in Cape Town left victims critically injured. The baboons were in areas where humans live in search of food.
Traditionally, no, but urbanisation is leading to unpredictable behavior. Baboons have been recorded to kill people — they have sharp teeth and immense strength. We still kill many more of them than the other way around, despite the fact that it is illegal.
