    Because twenty five percent of an apples volume is air, they are not dense, and therefore apples float on top of the water. This is what makes bobbing for apples possible.

    Anything less dense than water will float in water while objects that are more dense than water will sink. Apples, which are less dense than water, float. In my research I found a nice little chart explaining the way the force of gravity and the force of the water act on the apple to produce this effect. Here’s the link below.
