Cows are infamous for producing methane gas. Methane is about 23 times more powerful as a greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide. Livestock across the globe is responsible for 14% of all the world’s greenhouse gas emitions. But cows aren’t the only ones. Freshwater snails, worms, and mussels produce nitrous oxide, which is 310 times more powerful than carbon dioxide. This is our fault though; they emit this because of fertilizer run-off.
