Do alligators grow larger in zoos than in the wild?

An adult male alligator in the wild can require as 2 miles of space to grow to its full size.  Though alligators in zoos feed as frequently as wild alligators, they eat a less varied diet and have smaller habitats which limits their growth.  Generally, a wild alligator will be larger than one raised in captivity.
