All living things on Earth require water. Life on Earth started in the sea. Liquid water is essential in many chemical reactions that take place in living cells. But even though water is central to life on Earth, this does not mean that water is always necessary for life to exist, such as on other planets.
Yes, all living things on earth need water to survive. Some animal species do not need to drink water very often (or ever) because they get their water supply from the food they eat. For example, the sand cat gets enough water from its food supply, which consists of rodents, birds, reptiles, hares, and insects. Another example is the kangaroo rat. This animal gets its water from the seeds it eats.
