Not necessarily. All dolphins are, as a rule, social, and live and hunt in pods. However, it’s often overlooked that some dolphins end up solitary, bucking the normal behavior of this group of animals. Scientists usually consider them atypical, but they do occur from time to time. Apparently these dolphins are prone to seeking human interaction, and are not especially well-understood.
