Scientists are still researching the sleep patterns of different animals, but it seems that just about every animal does sleep some each day. For example, of all the animals we know about Giraffes sleep the least (averaging 1.9 hours per day) and do so standing up in 30-minute spans throughout the day. On the other hand, brown bats spend an average of 19.9 hours asleep each day while hanging upside-down. Scientists are still trying to understand the role of sleep for all creatures to better understand how sleep works.
