Certainly jet airplanes are louder than freeway traffic, but people don’t tend to live as near to runways as they do to freeways. As for wildlife, one imagines that they’d also tend to avoid airports for various reasons.
I would say so. Jet planes make much more noise than car traffic, just ask the guys out on the runways wearing ear protection. Granted, most places of business and homes are not situated right next to an airport, but it is quite loud when you arrive at one outside of the lobby. Also, many freeways that run through cities have newer sound walls on the sides to absorb most of the sound caused from all the cars. These sound wall, usually decorative, really help reduce any residual traffic noise.
