Do adult American toads have any natural enemies?

    Indeed they do. Snakes, raccoons and skunks all prey on the american toad.

      Whoa Raccoons? I didn’t know they ate animals like that. I thought they were scavengers eating what they could find. Thats awesome!

    One of the American Toad’s main predators is the eastern hognose snake. Garter snakes are also known to feast on the toad since they are immune to its poison.

    Another predator of the american toad are water snakes (Nerodia s. sipedon). They are a large, nonvenomous snake of the Colubridae family. These snakes are native to North America and they usually hunt for the American toad alongside other animals such fish and frogs during the day along the water’s edge.
