difference in ralative dating and age dating?

Relative dating consists of making a timeline and determining what fossils come from what era based on their position in rock strata. Fossils that are deeper are older, and fossils that are closer to the surface are younger. Absolute age dating allows scientists to put an approximate age to fossils. It can be accomplished by counting tree rings, using radioactive dating, or other methods.
