The prices for gasoline and diesel vary according to demand and supply. In other words, if there is a higher demand for gasoline, oil refiners tend to produce more gasoline and thus, the price of gasoline become cheaper than the price of diesel. During the cold winter months when there is more of a demand for diesel for home heating oils, oil refiners produce more diesel and thus, the prices for diesel go down.
