Did radiation cause mutation in Chernobyl?

Mutation was caused by the radiation in Chernobyl.  The children of the people who cleaned up the radiation had seven times the amount of mutations compared to normal children.  Cancer rates are especially high in areas close to th exclusion zone.  Birds that live within the zone also have a higher rate of abnormalities.  One good thing is that the area around Chernobyl has been a great place for wildlife to grow without the disturbances of humans who are still afraid to live there.
