In some countries, yes. In the US, streetview was done from Chevrolet Cobalt cars, which are subcompacts and therefore a somewhat environmentally friendly choice. However, they are not the most green choice in cars–the engine is still a standard combustion engine relying solely on gasoline. In Japan, a fleet of Priuses were used to record GoogleMaps Streetview…so in some countries, green cars were indeed used to make the program.
