Did the free National Park Weekends help drive interest in saving the environment?

It can definitely be argued that the National Park Free Weekends program will help drive interest in saving the environment. In the book No Child Left Behind, the theory about the relationship between how much time children spend in the outdoors as they grow up and their interest in protecting the environment is discussed. When children (or adults) have had memorable experiences in the outdoor they care more about saving those places and the animals and plants that make them up. Through the Free Weekend program, more people will have access and incentives to visit the parks and gain experiences of their own.
