    Yes, the Anasazi people had irrigation systems such as water drainage canals that were labor intensive on the Colorado Plateau. These irrigation systems were thought to be the reason for the food surpluses which led to greater technological and architectural advancements in their culture. This happened around the 10 and 11th centuries, as evidenced by remote sensing satellites.
