Could tree-planting, algae growing, etc. be enough to remedy high levels of atmospheric CO2?

All of these things would be helpful without a doubt, but it would not be enough to prevent or stop the problems we still face. The plant life on earth is not enough in total to counteract the massive amounts of CO2 we dump into the atmosphere everyday. In order for the situation to be remedied we need to drastically cut back on the amount of air pollution we have.
