The short answer is, it depends. It depends mostly on how much a person drives, and what the weather is like. Solar cells certainly help, and are being implemented in some of the newer hybrid and all-electric vehicles. However, for a general use vehicle, commuting daily to work and back, plus errands, etc., it would be difficult to get that amount of power out of the solar cell units that are currently commercially viable. You would likely still need to recharge by other means. However, it is possible that enough cells on a larger house could supply enough energy to charge the car.
