Could the reduction of logging in Brazil result in more logging elsewhere in the South American Amazon?

Absolutely. Deforestation is taking place so rapidly in Brazil because it is aggressively expanding. Extracting resources from the Brazilian Amazon currently offers the best economic practice at the time. If it becomes to expensive or too much of a hassle to log the Amazon in Brazil, many companies will just hop the river over to Ecuador or Peru and do the same thing all over again.
