Could Miami be destroyed by a tsunami or hurricane?

    Miami’s coastal location is very vulnerable to large hurricanes, it is however approximately 6 ft above sea level, so the flooding scenario seen in New Orleans is not likely.

    Tsunami’s are very uncommon in the Atlantic as a result of limited oceanic seismic activity, although this website:
    claims there is potential for one generated in the canary islands.
