The tallest known sunflower substantiated in recent times was 25 feet and 5.4 inches. It was grown in the Netherlands. (In 1567, scientists in Padua recorded a forty foot tall sunflower, but there is obviously no lasting proof of it.) Usually, however, sunflowers only grow to eight to twelve feet.
