It is theoretically possible for the virus to break out in the U.S. Though we have medication that can help prevent the spreading of the virus there is always the chance that it can mutate into a drug-resistance strand and cause mayhem around the country. The ebola virus is very rare these days, so someone would most likely have to bring it back to the U.S. after contracting it somewhere else and no know they had it.
