Could dance clubs use the same technology as Pavegen to make a greener club?

Yes, and some already are. Pavegen is a UK company that has developed a type of pad that stores kinetic energy from footsteps. The pads have been tested successfully on public sidewalks in Britain, and are also being marketed as advertisements (i.e., your company’s logo can be branded on a kinetic slab). In October 2009 a dance club in Rotterdam installed Pavegen slabs on its dance floor. The “sustainable dance club” idea has been alive since at least 2006 when the first green club opened in Rotterdam, but the introduction of kinetic footpad technology has proven a unique way to “green” a recreational facility.
