Could any life survive without the sun?

None that we know of – the photosynthesis of plants and certain bacteria and their conversion of solar radiation into energy is the basis of all known life – life around deep sea vents poses possibilities of life existing without direct solar interaction, but it’s formation without solar energy is still quite questionable.

chemolithotrophs are organisms which gain energy from oxidizing inorganic compounds such as sulfide and do not require sunlight to live.
