Is copper wire bad for the environment?

Copper is one of the most readily recyclable elements known to man.  Copper’s properties allow for it to be 100% recycled.  Actually, assuming that a copper product has a lifespan of 30 years, copper has a recycling rate of about 85%.  It is estimated that roughly 80% of the copper ever mined is still in existence.

That said, copper is actually good for the environment, since it offsets the exhaustion of other resources.
