Although compressed natural gas is a much cleaner alternative to gasoline and diesel, it is still a fossil fuel. That means there are limited quantities in the earth, whereas with the electric vehicles the USPS is piloting this summer, as long as we can produce electricity, they will be able to run. True, they are not entirely emissions-free, as much of our electrical production is dependent on coal and other fossil fuels, but as the need for renewable energy continues to rise, electric vehicles will continue to become a better option.
