It comes as no surprise that the United States is one of the biggest energy consumers in the world. Despite having less than 5% of the world’s population, the U.S. annual consumes around 25% of the world’s energy consumption. In the U.S. each person uses an average rate of 11.4 kilowatts of energy, almost double the usage of the average person in Japan or Germany. The lowest consumption rate is in Bangladesh, at 0.2 kW per person.
