Apparently in tropical areas, it is. The Philippines in 2006, enacted legislation that made sure all diesel in the country was blended with at least 2% coconut oil. And older diesel engines can run on pure coconut oil, Filipinos did so when fighting in WWII. However, it solidifies starting around 25°C (77°F). So it won’t do good in most of the US or Europe, but close to the equator, sure.
Other tropical countries also are working on using coconut-based or blended fuels.
