    Not particularly — the average thermodynamic efficiency of global coal plants is 25%, versus 33% for all fossil fuel driven plants. (Thermodynamic efficiency does not have a maximum of 100%, for reference. The most efficient coal plants reach 45% efficiency, whereas mixed-cycle plants can reach above 50%)
