New Zealand’s climate is quite a bit different than that of Australia’s. Generally, New Zealand is much more mild than Australia. Because of the size of New Zealand, isolated location in the ocean, and lower latitude, they experience a maritime climate which is characterized by high levels of precipitation and cooler average year-round temperatures. Northern New Zealand and the Victoria region of Australia experience somewhat similar climates though New Zealand’s receives more rainfall. Also, New Zealand’s topography plays a big role in their climate by providing colder temperatures in the winter.
