Is the clean emissions of natural gas cars enough to offset the dirtiness of it when its mined?

Natural gas may be “cleaner” than coal or oil, but it is not clean by any stretch of the imagination. Nor is there all that much “dirtiness” in drilling for natural gas (it is not “mined” in the usual sense of that word). There are issues all along the way, but most of the problems come from burning it.
