I shouldn’t think the development of clean technology anywhere would be a threat to the United States. China is a huge fossil fuel emitter – since 2000 alone, China’s emissions have increased by 92%. Any steps towards mitigating its fuel emissions would be beneficial to everyone. I actually think the development of clean technology in China would be helpful to the US – it would show that if clean technology can thrive in a country as large and populous as China, there is no reason (or excuse) for it not to thrive in the United States. Also, it would generate new revenue (on a huge scale), which would lead to further research and development into clean technology. It might even motivate the United States to prioritize the development of clean technology at home.
