The growth of the organic food and vegetable industry in the United States has grown from $1 billion in 1990 to an estimated $20 billion in 2007. These numbers support the notion that the U.S. is indeed going more organic, from produce to dry food to prepared foods.
Organic certification has seen a very steep growth in the past few years, most likely as a result of steadily increasing consumer knowledge base. Certified products and grocers maintain a considerably higher percentage of sales than non-certified organic products.
