Is carbon monoxide bad for the environment too?

Carbon monoxide is dangerous not only to humans, but to many other animals as well – so it isn’t only people that are hurt by this pollutant.  That said, carbon monoxide tends to be a pretty localized pollutant.  It isn’t likely to be a big problem outside of enclosed spaces that keep the gas from diffusing away, and areas very close to a source of carbon monoxide pollution (such as a factory or vehicle exhaust).  For this reason, most efforts at controlling carbon monoxide focus on homes and cities, where humans are the organisms most likely to feel the effects of pollution.
