It is in fact a reality. A power plant in West Virginia showed the world that it has successfully removed carbon dioxide from the emissions of its plant and transported it underground. It is currently estimated that it can transport 90% (about 100,000 metric tons) of the carbon dioxide the plant emits. Unfortunately, the downside to this is that carbon capture require a lot of energy and money to do. Also, it raises concerns about what happens if there’s a CO2 leak, and it then gets into the surrounding environment.
